The Lubbock Police Department said a shooting in Central Lubbock sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.

The shooting happened at about 4:00 Wednesday morning near 60th and Avenue P. The victim was transported to University Medical Center.

Police provided an update several hours after the shooting.  LPD said a dispatcher received a call about a “male with a gunshot wound.”  Police did not say if the victim was an adult or a juvenile.   

Police said, “The male’s injuries are believed to be serious but non-life threatening.”

Police said the shooting occurred in the area of 1900 60th Street. 

“It appears the victim and suspect got into an argument,” LPD said.  “At some point during the argument the victim was shot, and he ran from the area.”
 
Police said the suspect has not been located yet.
