After a major outage in southwest Lubbock, some residents said they felt left in the dark on when they were getting their power back on.

Matt Rose, spokesman for Lubbock Power & Light, said the outage last night was a learning opportunity for future outages.

LP&L plans to expand its call center to be available 24 hours a day and make other changes to improve communication in these situations.

Rose said the best way for customers to get ahold of LP&L is by text or email. That address is lightsout@lpandl.com.

With temperatures expected to be in the triple digits Rose said it’s not unlikely there could be another outage.

“Anytime you have temperatures over 100, you will have a lot of demand on the system and that is what we saw last night. So in the next few days we could have another outage,” Rose said.
