It has been a whirlwind these past few months for Broadway Festivals employees as they are trying to make everything perfect before the biggest annual parade that Lubbock has to offer.

“I’m pumped,” said Erin Hopkins, parade chair. “We’ve been working on this for months since the last July 4, and it’s crept up and now all of a sudden it’s here and we are just running around like crazy.”

While the parade is mostly staying the same, Colee Orf, executive director of Broadway Festivals, said they are changing up just a few things.

“We are adding a cool zone down at the park, and then we moved the evening concert into the main event so that there is more room for everyone to enjoy,” said Orf.

While parking can be a little stressful, if you cannot find that perfect spot, don’t worry – they’ve got you covered.

“We have $5 parking at the South Plains fairgrounds and that $5 will get you in, and you can come and go all day,” said Orf. “If not, First Capital Bank is providing a free shuttle from the fairgrounds to the park.”

This is the 28th year the Fourth on Broadway event has been happening, and it’s just one way to create memories that will last a lifetime.

“Absolutely it’s a huge community event,” said Hopkins. “I’ve been working for it about two years now, and the amount of people who say that they’ve been going here for the past 15 years is amazing.”
