The Mega Millions jackpot is now $654 million, and in combination with the Powerball grand prize, there is nearly $1 billion up for grabs this week.
For 24 weeks now, the Mega Millions has yet to be won, making it the second-largest jackpot for the Mega Million ever. It’s keeping store manager Lydia Flores very busy.
“Actually today we’ve had a little increase, but it’s manly just businessmen. Tech students usually don’t buy lotto. We have a lot of customers that wan to pick their own numbers, and we have some that want the quick picks,” Flores said.
In terms of your odds, you have a 1 in 302 million chance of winning this jackpot. But those odds are not stopping some from purchasing their tickets and making plans for how they’d use the money.
“Yes, I did come into the store just to pick up my Mega Millions ticket. I don’t have a whole lot to do, that’s my biggest bill I got, is my probation. Pay my probation off, that’s what I would do,” said Anthony Delarosa, a Mega Millions participant.
While some are making a plan for their spending, other are simply stunned by the amount of money at stake.
“If I were to win, I really don’t know what I would do with it. It’s a lot of money, but I would live good, I know that,” Flores said.
The drawing for the Mega Millions is at 11 p.m. Tuesday, October 16. You’ll have until 9:45 that evening to purchase your tickets. The drawing for the Powerball is Wednesday, October 17.
