A district court judge declared a mistrial in the murder case of Saul Mendez.

Mendez is accused of killing 46-year-old Ozell Craft in September of 2006.

Craft was a Lubbock resident and preacher in Tulia.

A witness who claimed to be in the Craft’s vehicle with Mendez after the murder began to cry on the witness stand today and said, “I can’t look at that man because he almost killed me.”

Despite protest from the prosecution, Judge Brad Underwood quickly declared a mistrial.

Jury selection will begin once again next Monday.
