The mother of the shooting victim from Tuesday night is in pain after she heard about the crime. Police continue to look for the person responsible for killing 25-year-old Chance Chavez.

“My baby is gone,” said Tina Villarrial, Chance’s biological mother, “Nobody can bring him back. Nobody can bring my baby back. He didn’t get a chance to live. He might have got caught up in the wrong thing at the wrong time and he got killed.”

Lubbock Police responded shots fired in the area near Akron and 39th late Tuesday night. They found Chavez’ body lying on the floor. He was a beloved son and brother.

“He was a good kid. Good kid,” said Villarrial.

Police looked around the neighborhood for any evidence of what led to the shooting. Chance’s mom said she just wants to bury her son so he can rest in peace.

“If anyone can help me bury my son,” she said, “Please help me. Please. He was a good kid.”
