A series of several shootings over a period of five days is leaving neighbors just southwest of the Depot District uneasy.
“When I’m asleep I hear all these bullets. That’s what I’m afraid of, one of these days one of these bullets will come in and hit one of my kids, it scares me because I have a lot of grandkids,” a neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous said.
Lubbock Police said they’re working on increasing patrol in the neighborhood to help residents feel safer in their homes.
“We know there are good hard working people in this area who just want to go about their lives and raise families. Now they have to deal with this stuff,” Tiffany Pelt, with Lubbock Police said.
“I think it really says something when you have 65 warrant arrests just in that neighborhood since January. It’s not something we’re ignoring and we’re working to fix the issues,” Pelt said.
