The City of Lubbock Codes Department noticed multiple trees at Mackenzie Park had been vandalized with graffiti.

“This is kinda the first time I have seen graffiti on trees,” Stuart Walker, the Code Administration Director for the City of Lubbock said.

The trees were marked with red spray painted letters. Walker said they don’t track individuals who vandalize, but if caught they could receive a fine.

Local graffiti artist, Ricky Flores said this type of vandalism is a poor reflection of spray painting artists. The EDOC INK employee said he would never use a tree as a canvas.

“A tree is a tree, man. It’s already art itself, it shouldn’t be painted on,” Flores said.

EDOC INK hosts classes for aspiring graffiti artists.

The City of Lubbock has a free graffiti removal service. If you need something removed, call 311 and ask for the Codes Department.
