A new bar called the Downtown Social LBK made it’s debut in the Depot District. The owners are expecting it to bring more business to downtown.

“You get more people down here. You give them a variety of options. It’s going to bring a lot of people who have never been to the Depot,” said Mark Martinez, owner of Downtown Social LBK, The Library, and The Garden, “This one we want it to evolve into, you know, a little bit of everything, as well. We want to give options for the older demographic to have something to do other than, you know, these college bars down here.”

Martinez said he started talking about opening the bar in April and wanted to take the time to make sure everything was right.

“It’s something different. It’s a new hang. It’s. You know. People love, especially here in Lubbock, they love new stuff,” said Martinez.

Justin Zimmerman, manager at Triple J’s, said all the business owners in the Depot are tight knit. He said they’re always talking about how to make the area more appealing.

“We all like to support each other’s business. Our employees like to go around after they get off and go to different spots and their employees like to come over and eat food so it’s a good trade off,” said Zimmerman.

In Downtown Social LBK, you’ll find live music and plenty of food and drink specials. Martinez hopes to attract people who’ve never been to the area.

“We’re getting a lot of corporate chains coming through here. So it’s kind of nice to have something local that’s going to be new, as well,” said Martinez.

“They’ve done great stuff. There’s been another brewery opening up. There’s another on the way. The Buddy Holly Performing Arts Center’s coming. So everything is looking up,” said Zimmerman.

You can find Downtown Social LBK at 1711 Texas Ave.
