Night for Angels: Alström Angels benefit dinner

The non-profit Alström Angels will be hosting their biggest fundraiser Saturday night called Night for Angels.

“Most of our guests walk away with that warm and fuzzy feel good, like, I did something really great,” said Cassie Johnston, organizer of the event and mother of a child with Alström Syndrome.

The annual event raises money for kids with Alström Syndrome, which is a rare disease that affects only four kids in Texas.

“We always bring them in,” Johnston said. “So that our donors and our supporters and our guests for the evening have a chance to meet the kids they’re helping and get to talk to them and learn how amazing they are and hear about some of the amazing things they do despite having Alström Syndrome.”

Last year the event raised $127,000 and they said they hope to reach that goal, and more, this year.

“Even though the cause that we’re supporting is devastating and very serious with medical complications, we really don’t focus on that tonight,” Johnston said. “We focus on everything our kids have accomplished in spite of and so it’s more of just a celebration.”

Tickets will be sold at the door. You can find out more about the event on their website here
