An online website claiming to be from the Hub City is scamming customers across the country for apparent YETI products. Now local residents are coming forward with their complaints of unfilled orders.

The Better Business Bureau in Lubbock told EverythingLubbock.com that the website DiscountIceChests.com appears to be an illegitimate business after failing to fulfill paid orders. They added that officials have reached out to the company and have not gotten a response, as well as, a phone number being disconnected.

“They’ll get an email saying their order has been completed but they never got the product,” Better Business Bureau’s Madison Luscombe said.

EverythingLubbock.com also tried contacting the company and has yet to get a response. Our team tracked down their location listed on the website at 1500 Broadway Street, and found it the be the Wells Fargo Bank Building.

The Building Manager Carl Tepper said Discount Ice Chest is not a business at their facility.

“We filed a police report,” Tepper said. “This is unusual, this is the first time we’ve had to deal with cyber crimes. There’s really not a lot of resource for it, it seems.”

BBB said no direct contact information and a false address are major warning signs that a website is a scam.

“This is one of the shortcomings of the internet that we’re going to have to figure out how to handle,” Tepper said. “But for now it seems that there’s no resource for people to get their money back.”
