There is a national craze finally making its way to Lubbock. Artists are painting rocks with different designs and are hiding them in different spots all over town for someone else to find and enjoy.

“We get doubled blessed. We get to paint it and when someone finds it then it returns the blessing to you more than the person who finds it. So it’s encouraging to continue painting,” Tana Williamson said.

Williamson said her family jumped on board with the “West Texas Rocks” game after finding several around town.

“We’ve probably found now a total between about 12 to 13 rocks. Since then we’ve put out maybe 100 already,” Williamson said.

The whole idea behind the rocks Williamson said is to get families working and playing together and off their electronic devices.

“Family time, it is so crazy. We’ve got electronics in our faces being on our cell phones or video games. We just to slow down and spend time with our families,” Williamson said.

Anyone who finds a rock is encouraged to post a photo of it to the “West Texas Rocks” Facebook group or the Crosby County Rocks Group. After posting the photo finders are encouraged to go and re-hide the rock in other parts of town so artists can see just how far the rocks can go.
