Four grieving families asked for the community’s support after they lost their children in a devastating car crash in Callahan County Monday morning.

Department of Public Safety found Ruben Licon, 17, Johnathan Pena, 18, Tre’qweishium Williams, 19, and Manual Martinez, 24, and pronounced them dead at the scene after their pickup crashed into a semi truck along Interstate 20 Monday morning.

“It feels like a dream,” Rhonda Baxter, Tre’s mother, said. “First day I couldn’t sleep. I stayed up for over 28 hours because I couldn’t sleep, because I wanted it to be a dream that he was gone.”

“Pain that I don’t wish on anybody,” Laura Castillo, Manuel’s sister, said. “I don’t wish this on anybody.”

With unexpected funeral expenses, each family has set up a fundraiser in hopes to give their children a proper burial service.

“I can’t believe my baby’s gone,” Baxter said. “My son was my hero. He was my everything. I just can’t believe he’s gone.”

“Nobody expects anything like this to happen,” Castillo said. “It just happened and it’s a time where everyone should come together and we’ve done that, as you can see, he has a lot of loved ones that he left behind.”
