People enjoy participating in our event and we believe this new association will bring more people to Plainview.”
Headliners for this year’s event feature Casey Donahew and Shooter Jennings on Saturday night.
With eight bands over the two days, it will be Go BIG’s biggest line up to date. Besides Donahew and Jennings, Friday night will feature The Cover Hogs followed by The Lawless. Beginning at noon on Saturday, local musician Tanner Lane will kick of the festivities. After Lane, other bands performing include Chris Colston, Jason Nutt & Highway 70 and The Cover Hogs will make a second appearance.
Two other new things for this year’s event include the Backyard BBQ Brawl and the KCBS Judging Class. The Backyard Brawl is for the master weekend grillers who enjoy cooking but don’t wish to chase points. Entry fee is $50 and the meat is being supplied by Ben E. Keith. People’s Choice awards will be given and cash prizes are available. The KCBS Judging Class is scheduled for Thursday, May 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the conference
room at Comfort Suites (northwest corner of the park). The class is $45 and membership to KCBS is required ($40 membership fee). All participants taking the class receive two free passes for Saturday’s event and are eligible to judge other KCBS cook offs.
“KCBS requires their judges to have taken the class and receive judging certification,” says King Warren. “Since this is new to our competition, we are offering the class for those who are interested in judging.”
