Plainview Police Officer Jeremy Martinez has been fighting a sickness in the hospital and the police department is trying to rally up some funds to help him and his family.
“Hopefully, we can get them over this hump,” said Detective Curtis Bloom, “Jeremy is a crucial asset to this department. He’s very smart. He’s very experienced in the field.”
“If you need back up, that’s the guy to call,” said Captain Manuel Balderas.
Martinez’ career with the department was put on pause for a while as he suffers from an inflammatory digestive disease.
“He got sick, was in the hospital for several months, got better, was able to return to work on light duty, had a secondary procedure done, and had some complications with it. Now, he’s out,” said Detective Bloom.
“They started talking about ‘What can we do?’ said Balderas.
Bloom said Martinez was in the Marine Corps, which means not only did he serve his community of Plainview, but he served his country.
“The outpouring love and support for the cause has been beyond what I would have ever expected,” said Bloom.
