Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery honors local fallen heroes on Memorial Day

Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery hosted its annual Memorial Day Memorial Service to honor local men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The patriotic service included the playing of the National anthem, building of the soldiers cross, 21 gun salute and the traditional playing of taps to honor those who died protecting our freedoms.

Col. Dave Lewis, USAF Retired, said they hold this service as a reminder of the true meaning behind memorial day and to honor those who gave their lives for this country.

“We take time not to mourn, but to honor those,” Lewis said. “Today is a day we honor those who paid the ultimate price to secure our freedom. It’s a great day to kick off the summer, and those that paid the ultimate price allow us to do that.”
