Lime Scooters is working with Texas Tech University to help make transportation on campus just a little bit easier. Lime placed hundreds of scooters on and around campus in early November, and now they want to bring ride-share bikes to campus as well.
“The bikes will offer the same type of freedom as the scooters,” Stacy Stockard, media relations coordinator for Tech’s Transportation and Parking Services, said.
Stockard said they’ve noticed students on campus have really enjoyed having the scooters. She said they believe adding the bikes will bring more positivity to campus.
“The bikes offer you another mode of transportation. People like the bikes for more exercise or more leisurely rides or for pure enjoyment,” Stockard said.
The pedal bikes are expected to be put in place in January, and E-Bikes, which make riding just a little easier, are expected to be put in place by May.
“The bikes will offer a lower-cost option. The scooters and E-Bikes are a dollar to check out and 15 cents each minute after. The pedal bikesare a dollar to check out and then 5 cents a minute after that,” Stockard said.
