West Texas corn growers are either wrapping up, or just getting started on their harvest for 2018. This year, they are really feeling the impact of the long, hot and dry summer.

Executive Director for Texas Corn Producers said many farmers who planted corn in years prior, saw drought and seed prices as a barrier for 2018 causing fewer acres of corn planted this year.

“They looked at the extremely dry winter and projections for a dry summer, and then the price factors caused a lot of acreage shift for those producers,” Gibson said.

The segment wrapped up with a look at various ag related events happening around the South Plains.
