Single Senior Citizens Celebrate Valentine’s Day

Today Carillon Lifecare Community Center hosted a film screening for the documentary “The Age of Love.” The movie follows the lives of several senior citizens during a speed dating event.

The Carillon Center says they hope this movie will inspire the single elderly community in Lubbock to start dating.
“Just because you’re 65, 70, 80 or even 90; whatever your age is it doesn’t mean you can’t still find love,” said Lindsay Grannan, the director of marketing and sales at the Carillon Center.
The center says they think these events are able to help all older individuals, not only singles, to be able to socialize. They said a little socialization believes it improves the health for all.
“We were inspired to do this because we believe in wellness and social activity. Life is definitely not over for the people who live with us and who are retired and live in the Lubbock community,” said Grannan.
Grannan says they hope this movie will create a movement within Lubbock and she hopes that they will be able to host their own 65+ speed dating event.
“We’d love to get enough interest to host a speed dating event in the near future. They might be willing to get out there and just try something different. We hope their perspective might change,” said Grannan.
