Early Friday morning, Lubbock Police found the body of 55-year-old Rudolfo Reina laying on the sidewalk near North Gary Avenue and Baylor Street.
“He’s in a better place than we are. He doesn’t have to suffer with anything,” Gloria Reina, Rudolfo’s sister, said.
Gloria said Rudolfo was friends with the 16-year-old boy who killed him. She also said the young boy stabbed him to death.
“He kinda took him underneath his wing as if he was his son,” Gloria said.
“I never heard them argue or anything. All I know is that it got really serious and that he stabbed him to death,” Gloria said.
Because the teen is a minor, police will not release his name. Lubbock Police said he is being charged with murder.
Lubbock Police said this is an ongoing investigation.
