After the hail storm this weekend, several families are doing damage control around their homes. One family in Lake Ridge near Vicksburg Avenue and 84th Street said they haven’t seen this happen to their home in nearly a decade.
“We could see all the leaves. You know, just battered the leaves and the trees so badly and we looked at the skylights and found two or three broken and the next day we found that there were four,” said Nicky Anderson, “We have called our insurance people and they are going to make appointments with us. Hopefully, today! We called them on Sunday. They’re open 24/7 and that was wonderful.”
The Better Business Bureau understands you want to get these things fixed as soon as possible, but tread carefully when you do.
“If they’ve got a contract in hand trying to get you signed up to let them fix the roof. Look it over. See who they are. Where they are,” said Greg Linder, President and CEO of the Better Business Bureau.
Finding a reliable company is just as important as getting the repair done quickly because you could get scammed if you’re not careful.
“Don’t feel pressured to sign onto anything committing to letting them doing your roof. Until you’ve checked them out,” said Linder.
If you’re in doubt, don’t hand over the insurance check and go to the BBB’s website here.
“It’s just happens every cycle so we took our turn this time. It’s different parts of town every time and so South Lubbock just got it really hard this time,” said Anderson.
