Christopher B. Stubblefield better known as “Stubb” is credited for putting the City of Lubbock on the map nationally for Bar-B-Que.
Stubb opened his first restaurant, Stubb’s Bar-B-Q, in Lubbock in 1968.
“His place was a down home really really good BBQ place, it was beautiful,” Don Caldwell, a long time friend of Stubbs said.
“He mainly really just wanted to cook, play and hear music. One of the things he always said is ‘I want to feed the world’ and he did in a lot of ways,” Terry Allen, another friend of Stubbs said.
The Lubbock location is now closed, but left with a statue of Stubbs created by Terry Allen.
