Local high school student, Ryan Smith, started an online petition to change Texas Tech University’s next home game to a “Blue Out” themed game in honor of the slain Officer Floyd East Jr.

Smith has asked TTU fans to wear blue in honor of Officer East and his family, as well as, show support to all law enforcement during this tragic time.
“I encourage everyone just to show their support to Officer East to their family and local law enforcement and law enforcement all over the country and world, and send a message that we support our local law enforcement here in Lubbock and Texas Tech does as well,” Smith said. “We are not a city of hatred towards our police officers.”

TTU’s next home football game will be their homecoming game at the Jones Stadium on October 21 starting at 11 a.m.
