The South Plains Food Bank has partnered with Everything Lubbock for the Texas Strong from the Heart of Lubbock Food Drive to help those still struggling from Hurricane Harvey.
Meagan Bratton, Director of Development for the South Plains Food Bank, expressed,
“Being able to partner with a great organization like this to make sure that we’re getting all of the items we need pulled in, it’s just going to be an amazing turn out.”
Many families along the coast are still needing your help and this is the perfect way to make sure your donation gets to them.
Bratton explained, “We’re looking for items that are easily for individual servings, pop top items, granola bars, small individual things of cereal, tuna packets, anything that’s really easy and they don’t have to heat it up, they can open it and maybe just eat it directly out of the container.”
Folks from all over the South Plains have stopped by to do their part.
April Lewis, a Local Resident, told us , “We brought some water and some toiletries and some Ramon noodles and just some essentials that people need. Everybody needs to help, I mean that’s the way I feel about it. If it was us in the situation I would hope that everyone would help us.”
You don’t have to worry about them running out of room either.
Bratton said, “We’ve got lots of trucks so please make sure you bring as many donations as possible, we can fill up three or four trucks if we need to.”
The trucks will head down to the food bank in Corpus Christi later this week. If you didn’t get a chance to donate but still want to help out there are more ways to lend a hand.
Bratton explained, “We can always use volunteers if they will go to our website there’s places where you can register to volunteer with us as well to help get all the food sorted.”
