Texas Tech and Lime are partnering up again to bring 50 ‘Lime Bikes’ to Lubbock. These bikes are electric meaning they will help riders get to their destinations faster.

“As you peddle, it peddles with you,” said Stacy Stockard, Media Relations Coordinator for the Transportation and Parking Services of Texas Tech University. “If you’re tiring down these bikes will help you make it the rest of the way, making it even a little bit easier.”

She said when riding the bikes you are required to follow traffic laws and city ordinances.

Texas Tech says you are riding at your own risk, and recommends for everyone to wear a helmet.

“If there is a bike lane present you must use it, otherwise it is acceptable to use the main road or the sidewalk,” Stockard said. “Just like a car tough you’ll need to follow all the rules.”

According to Texas Tech, they are starting out with just 50 bikes, but there could be more depending on how many students use them.
