Texas Tech University Athletics sold more than 5,200 season ticket sales during men’s basketball season this year, which is the most for one basketball season in about ten years. Ticket sales that has created school history.

“We’re ranked 7th in the country,” TTU Senior Associate Athletic Director Robert Giovannetti. “This is the second time we’ve been ranked, the last time was in the late 90’s.”

With an impressive season thus far, crowds continue to fill the United Supermarkets Arena, and the parking on campus. Additional patrol is now enforcing a new parking system.

“This year we’ve sold so many season tickets so we just don’t have enough spaces in that West Lot,” Giovannetti said. “It started last year during conference season as well, we started a system where you had to have a pass to park in the West Parking Lot.”

Each season ticket is paired with a parking pass in an assigned lot on campus. The parking lots north, south, and west of the arena and now completely assigned to season ticket holders, students, and donors.

New free parking was introduced in the conference season last year. It is located at TTU’s soccer field, just north of the Marsha Sharp Freeway. A shuttle bus circulate between the soccer fields and the arena throughout the entire game.

“We feel like that has worked,” Giovannetti said. “We added buses as the season has gone on so we feel like we have an adequate number of buses to limit long waits and wee feel like that will work for people who don’t have a parking pass.”

This change will be the new parking system for any game day at TTU.
