Martin Flores and his brother Ralph have been serving food at Mackenzie Park on the Fourth of July since the 90’s. Ralph serves corn dogs and Martin serves shaved ice, right next to each other year after year without fail. Ralph said the whole family got up at the crack of dawn to get everything prepared for the big day.

“It takes a lot of preparation, and experience, everything has to be hot for the customers,we need a lot of help every year,” Flores said.

Martin said with the storm last night he was worried how things were going to turn out.

“It was thundering, our power kept going out, we didn’t think it was going to happen,” Flores said.

Martin’s daughter Aaron got teary eyed when thinking back to when she first started helping her father as a young girl, selling pickles out of a tent.

“No matter where I’m at in life I will always be here to help,” Flores said. “I just really love them so much and I think it’s awesome,”

The big family said later in the evening as things start to quiet down, they like to set up tents outside of the trucks and watch the fireworks together.

“It’s our family tradition, something we do every year,” Flores said.
