With the recent bombing in Manchester, England, the United Supermarkets Arena has spoken out about the steps they take to keep the residents of Lubbock safe during large events.
“In the public assembly facility industry we’re constantly reviewing our plans and procedures and training just to make sure we are as prepared as possible for anyone who wants to threaten our public safety,” Cindy Harper, the Associate Director of the United Supermarkets Arena said.
Harper said Texas Tech implements a clear bag policy for all athletic events but she said it’s hard to have that rule for other events at the arena.
“We know for the concerts and events and other events like that it’s a lot of people coming from out of town and then make it to the arena doors and not realize the policy. Even though we try to get the word out there,” Harper said.
