In honor of Halloween, the University Medical Center hosted a Halloween Trick-Or-Treat for the pediatrics department.

“On Halloween we go trick or treating so we put some excitement into that. We want them to forget their in the hospital and being poked and stuff like that,” Brandi Sawyer, the Assistant Director PD and pediatrics said.

Students from the Texas Tech Medical School Department showed up to help volunteer and hand out candy to the children.

“When it comes time for the holiday for kids it’s important to feel like a normal kid and the community is able to come around and show the kids were still backing them. So they get to experience the holidays and traditions that their friends get to do,” Katie Higgins, the President of Pediatrics Club School of Medicine for Tech said.

Sawyer said they provided the costumes for the kids, all in hopes of getting them out of the mindset that their in the hospital.

“We try to bring a little bit of normal life into back to the hospital,”Sawyer said.
