The family of Alejandro Hernandez is desperate and asking for your help after he was killed in a hit-and-run crash in March. He was hit in the 500 block of Slide Road, and there has still been no arrest.
“And to just hurt them like that and leave them there like they were nothing, like they were a piece of trash. It’s horrible,” says Genesis Hernandez, Alejandro Hernandez’s wife. “Nobody deserves what happened, but he deserves justice.”
Although it’s been months, Genesis is still stuck in that day.
“I know somebody knows. I just want them to come forward. I just want some type of closure. I can’t just keep living my life just not doing anything knowing that the person who took my husband’s life is out, is still out there living theirs, like it’s nothing,” said Genesis.
Lubbock Police said they have very little information about the driver and no surveillance video.
“Many times in cases like this, we really rely on the public’s help: if they saw a vehicle maybe leaving the area, if they noticed a vehicle that may have had damage consistent with the vehicle hitting someone. We always ask for them to give us a call,” said Tiffany Pelt, Lubbock Police Department public information officer.
Police believe the car was possibly a 2011-2014 Dodge Durango, Dodge Dakota or a Jeep (non-Wrangler) model.
The vehicle would have had damage to the chrome driver’s side mirror cover and the driver’s side headlight.
Other vehicle makes and models could share this specific type of side view mirror. It’s possible the driver had the damage repaired after the accident.
Police said they will continue to look for the suspect because they want to get closure for this family.
“They took so much from us, and I want this person to be held accountable for what they did,” said Genesis.
