Often times people are hesitant to do workout classes for fear that cardio could worsen an injury, or not be doable based on age and fitness level.
Pure Barre offers an alternative workout that is made for any age and skill set. The classes focus on low impact movements that isolate every part of your body.
Sarah Tucker, the owner, said Pure Barre is safe for joints because you are never putting a lot of pressure on your knees or hips, and it is something you can do as many days a week as you want.
“We start with a warm up and move to arm work, then to the barre for thigh and seat work,” Tucker said. “Then finish with abs so truly (working) the whole body.”
Tucker said the studio offers four classes: foundations, classic, empower and reform. The classes range from a beginner level, to circuit work, traditional barre and resistance training.
“Every new person regardless of where they are they are in the same boat because it’s completely new,” Tucker said.
Tucker said their studio is located off of 98th and Quaker, and if you are interested in taking a class your first one is free.
“I think it’s a fun challenge and something that will continue to challenge you and grow you,” Tucker said. “And you’ll also meet lots of fun people.”
