Where some may see trash, one South Plains woman sees an opportunity for restoration.

Jennifer Foerster, the owner of Pink Magnolia, said she rescues old neglected pieces of furniture and gives them new life.

“Some people have a piece that is just falling apart that they don’t have any use for anymore,” Foerster said. “They want to get rid of it so I take it and make it fabulous again.”

Foerster said she runs her shop from her home and is constantly either finding or being brought new pieces to revitalize.

“We only have one earth and we need to take care of it,” Foerster said. “And I would much rather have something piled up in my to-do stack than sitting in a landfill.”

Foerster said she teaches classes out of her work-space and believes it is important to not throw out things when they are still usable.

“I just think it’s important to save what we can,” Foerster said. “Don’t throw stuff out let’s try and recycle it and make something beautiful instead of discarding it.”

Foerster said she does custom orders as well and sells her furniture in a shop, and feels like every time she finishes a project, it is like a piece of her goes into a home.

“To think that oh this piece was falling apart like it was missing a leg and you go through all these repairs,” Foerster said. “It’s such a rewarding feeling to know that you did that and that people like it.”
