The Lubbock Police Department is calling on the community for help in identifying the lone suspect responsible for vandalizing a local business.

In the early morning hours of June 10, a man was spotted on surveillance footage walking up to the Grease Monkey and Monkey Splash property.

The suspect begins to hurl rocks at various windows and doors in the back of the building, eventually causing thousands of dollars worth in damages.

On that Saturday morning, employees arrived to find doors and windows shattered, and shards of glass laying across the floors. However, they say business has continued as normal since the incident. Owners have boarded up the holes and are continuing to make repairs.

Grease Monkey opened only a few months back, and they say it appears none of the other nearby businesses were vandalized. They hope this unfortunate incident will encourage fellow business owners to invest in security measures as well.

“Anytime you have security cameras, that’s a big help, to keep an incident from happening to catch footage, and we did talk to both our neighbors beside us and things like that to verify that they had nothing taken place at their shops or stores,” said Ken Harrison, co-owner of Grease Monkey and Monkey Splash. “I would just say always keep monitoring, always keep an eye out for each other.”

If you recognize the man spotted in the video or have any information that could help lead Lubbock police to an arrest, you are encouraged to call Crimeline at 741-1000. You can remain anonymous.
