“We don’t talk to them. They don’t talk to us,” said Theresa Brown.

It started as a fight between two neighbors and it left this family fearing for their lives.

“My oldest granddaughter, she’s 12. She got me. She said, ‘Grandma they fighting! They fighting!’ I ran out here. I tried to break it up, but he wasn’t trying to hear nothing,” said Verta Wilbon.

During the fight, one man went inside his house, came back with a gun, and fired it several times. Thankfully, he missed, but Wilbon said it was just inches away from where their kids were standing.

“I was really scared because he could have killed my grandkids,” said Wilbon. “They were playing out here. I got an 18 month old baby in there.”

They said they grabbed the kids and called for help.

“I was trying to document everything, but it happened so fast so all you can think about is getting the kids out of danger,” said Brown.

SWAT officers, K9 units, and negotiators then blocked the area.  Neighbors were evacuated.

“We got back in our house at 2 o’clock in the morning. We had to sit in these cars,” said Wilbon.

The SWAT team ended up going inside the man’s house to find him, but he was not there.

“I would want him to give himself up. Give yourself up. You did it. You could’ve killed my grandkids. That is all I’m concerned about. You shot the car up. You could have killed one of my grandkids,” Wilbon said.
