Justice Stout lives on the edge of Lubbock County on your way to Idalou and she said sadly it’s become a popular dumping ground for dogs no longer wanted.
“That is why we need help from Animal Control more than in the city. We need it so bad out here,” Stout said.
Stout said they will get anywhere from one dog dropped off to a whole litter of puppies. She said they will give the dumped dogs water and food but they can’t afford to pay for their vet bills.
“Its just bad out here to see these dogs dying because they are sick,” Stout said.
She said she asked Lubbock Animal Services for help, but since she is outside of the city limits they aren’t able to. She said she has tried to go and drop some of the strays off at the shelter but LAS charged her ten dollars per dog.
“Were not going to let the animals starve but then again its ten dollars to drop them off that is one of the hardest parts,” Stout said.
A dispatcher at Lubbock Animal Services said when they receive a call about a stray dog outside of the city limits they direct the caller to the Sheriff’s Department.
