Contact Lubbock and the Lubbock County Medical Examiner want to bring attention to local parents about the risks of suicide with their kids.
“Any child that takes their own life, no matter if they’re 10 or 12 or 15, it’s alarming to us,” Dr. Sridhar Natarajan, Lubbock County Chief Medical Examiner, said.
Sharron Davis with Contact Lubbock, a local suicide prevention group, said the way society looks at suicide needs to change.
“We don’t talk about suicide. Everyone is afraid to talk about it. What we need to be telling our kids is that there is always hope. There is always help. Suicide is a very permanent choice to a very temporary situation,” Davis said.
