We’re keeping an eye on the radar as we still have a slight chance of thunderstorms this evening across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. So far, things have been quiet.
We have another slight chance for thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening across the area. The day will start out mostly sunny. Expect partly cloudy conditions by afternoon.
Summer doesn’t officially start until June 20th but we are expecting the hottest weather of the season this week. Many locations will experience their first 100°+ high temperatures, so far, in 2016 this week. High temperatures will average in the upper 90s to lower 100s with high pressure in control.
There may be enough low level moisture still around on Tuesday and Wednesday. Combined with the hotter weather, a stray storm or two could develop. Otherwise, a drying pattern will take place by the middle and late week. By that time, we expect the high to suppress any rain chances, not to mention cloud cover development.

Tonight: Slight chance of a thunderstorm during the evening. Otherwise mostly clear to partly cloudy with lows around 70. Southeasterly wind will turn southwesterly by morning at 10 to 15 miles per hour.
Monday: Mostly sunny in the morning then becoming partly cloudy by afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms are possible late in the afternoon and early evening. Highs in the middle to upper 90s with a southwesterly wind 10 to 15 miles per hour.
