The Lady Raiders raced out to a 10-point lead in the first half, and held off an Iowa State comeback in the second and third quarters to eventually finish off the Lady Cyclones, 89-84.

Japreece Dean registered a career-high 28 points, and Dayo Olabode and Ivonne CookTaylor scored 20 and 14 points, respectively.

Zuri Sanders also notched a career-high in points with 13 and 14 rebounds.

The two teams were tied 16 times during the course of the game.

The Lady Raiders scored 34 points in the paint, as well as 20 second-chance points.

“It’s awesome, it’s huge for our program,” said head coach Candi Whitaker, after the game. “I just love how we started to play at the end of our season.”

As for Dean’s career night, the head coach was pleased with her freshman point guard.

“She’s big time, and I love watching her play, she can really create,” said Whitaker. “She just had her mind on winning today.”

Tech will take on Baylor at 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon on Fox Sports Net.
