Memorial Day is Monday, May 25 and for some people that means getting out on the water to celebrate. The only boating ramp open this year is Sanford-Yake.

Lake Meredith on Thursday was at 6.8 percent capacity according to waterdatafortexas.org. One year ago it was at 0 percent.

Lake Meredith remains the largest lake in the Panhandle and this weekend officials are expecting many visitors.

Paul Jones, Chief Ranger at Lake Meredith said, “This is first boating weekend of the year, so a lot of folks will be getting them out of storage.”

Jones said remember to have your boat registered and check safety equipment such as boat’s fire extinguisher.
