Volunteer firefighters were busy Saturday afternoon battling a grass fire that ignited in about two miles west of Sudan in Lamb County.
Corporal John Gonzales, with the Texas Department of Public Safety, tells EverythingLubbock the fire was reported around 3:00 p.m.
U.S. Highway 84 was shut down temporarily in the area due to poor visibility from the smoke.
Gonzales said the highway reopened to traffic around 3:30 p.m.
The Bailey County Sheriff’s Office tells EverythingLubbock.com fire crews from their county were assisting with the fire.
There is no word at this time if the fire is contained.
