The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is set to perform work this week to install the drainage system on the US 84 bridge project in the city of Slaton.

Beginning tomorrow [Tuesday], westbound US 84 traffic will be reduced to one lane of traffic. Motorists are advised to stay alert when entering the work zone since traffic will be shifted between the two westbound mainlanes as work to install the drainage progresses. The drainage work and lane closures will take place weather permitting and are expected to take a week to complete.

The work is part of a $15 million project to build a new US 84 mainlane bridge over the railroad crossing, located between County Roads 3500 and 3600, and add U-turns underneath the bridge to eliminate all at-grade railroad crossings. The project is scheduled to be completed in early-2018.
