LAREDO, TX — A Laredo man has pled guilty to child pornography possession and failure to register as a sex offender.
Gamaliel Cortez-Mendoza, 43, was arrested in January following an investigation by the Laredo Child Exploitation Task Forced that was being led by Homeland Security Investigations and the Webb County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crime Unit with assistance from the Laredo Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety and U.S. Marshals Service.
Mendoza was previously convicted in 2004 for possession of child pornography in Harris County where he was required to register as a sex offender.
Mendoza faces a minimum of 20 years in prison.
