Plainview Police, Hale County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Rangers responded to the scene of a death in Plainview Wednesday evening.

Few details were immediately available, but Plainview Police Chief Ken Coughlin confirmed that one person had died.

Witnesses said that a pickup truck had crashed into two other parked cars in two separate driveways before coming to a stop. The entire block was sectioned off during the investigation.

Officials were working to confirm what led to that person’s death, and did not immediately release that information.

Update from Plainview Officials:

On Wednesday, May 25th at approximately 4:00 P.M. the Plainview Police Department received a call to dispatch describing an accident in the 1600 block of Kokomo Street. 
 
A Dodge Ram, license plate Texas K05-0556, appeared to have lost control in the 1800-1600 block of Kokomo damaging several vehicles and coming to a stop in the front yard of one of the homes.
 
Witnesses on scene reported to dispatch that the driver was armed.
 
Plainview Officers arrived on scene shortly after the call and discovered the driver unresponsive in the backyard of 1604 Kokomo Street and EMS was called to the scene.  The driver was determined to be dead after CPR was attempted by EMS. 
 
No additional information is available at this time while the accident is still under investigation.
