Lawsuit Says UFC Fight Broadcast Illegally Intercepted by Lubbock Business

The owners of a former Lubbock business called Melt were sued Wednesday in federal court.  Pennsylvania-based Joe Hand Promotions sued Dustin Stone, Stephen Murray, and Melt Club LLC which used to be located in the 1700 block of Texas Avenue.

JHP’s lawsuit claimed that Melt Club illegally intercepted UFC 150: Henderson v. Edgar II in August of 2012.

Under one federal law JHP is asking the court to assess a penalty of up to $110,000 against Stone and Murray and Melt Club LLC.  Under a second federal law JHP claimed that each defendant could be made to pay $60,000 each.

The lawsuit said, “[JHP] is unable to determine the manner in which Defendants obtained the broadcast.”

A phone call to the last known number for Melt Club revealed that the business changed names and is under new ownership.
