The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps played Wednesday in the NCAA Division II Final Four. LCU won 67 – 57 and will play in the championship game on April 4.
While some fans were able to make the trip to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to watch the team play in person, some fans were watching the action from Lubbock at a watch party on LCU’s campus.
“They’re a group of special ladies, and you can tell by looking at the crowd,” Dean of Students Josh Stephens said. “These are people who are invested in these girls, because these girls are invested in them, and so to say we’re proud of them, no matter what the outcome is, is a huge understatement.”
“I’m feeling emotional, and I’m kind of surprised, I felt tears welling up and we’re all really excited and I had students in front of me and I was sitting with other alumni I went to school with,” Samantha Turley, Alumni Relations Specials said.
The championship game will be played in Indianapolis, Indiana.
