A local church made a big donation today to help those in need this holiday season.

Elder Ronald A. Rasband of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints traveled from Salt Lake City to make the donation.

He along with other church leadership donated 38,000-pounds of food and commodities to the South Plains Food Bank.

1,000-coats collected by Latter-day Saints were donated to the Refugee Services of Texas.

Today’s donation is part of the church’s humanitarian mission to help others regardless of nationality or religion.

It’s also part of the church’s #LIGHTtheWORLD campaign of service for the Christmas season.
