Lemonade Day is returning to the Hub City on May 6th, celebrating their 6th anniversary of creating hundreds of youth-owned businesses across the South Plains on a single day!
The kickoff event takes place Wednesday, March 22nd at 4:30pm at Patron Sponsor Reagor Dykes Auto Group’s Downtown Location, 1215 Avenue J. The Mayor’s office will be issuing the City Proclamation recognizing Lubbock Lemonade Day for empowering area youth to start thousands of businesses to date. The Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting welcoming the hundreds of new businesses to Lubbock in 2017 and Lemi the Lemonhead will be there to promote this year’s theme ‘Lemons to Gold.” Volunteers will be on hand to register area youth and get their “Passport to Lemon U” journey started. City Champion Robert Taylor from Patron Sponsor United Supermarkets will be there to toast this year’s entrepreneurs and lemonade lovers across the South Plains.
Each child that registers for Lemonade Day receives a “Lemons to Gold” t-shirt and a “Passport to Lemon U” with tools, educational events and online training to help them build their very own business. Along the way, they learn key lessons from some of Lubbock’s most successful business icons on how to set a goal, make a plan, secure a loan, create a product, work hard, provide good customer service, make a profit and give back to the community.
Children keep all the money they earn and are encouraged to spend some, save some, and share some. Thousands of dollars were donated back to local Lubbock charities last year alone.
Lemonade Day is empowering tomorrow’s entrepreneurs by teaching them to start, own and operate their very own business – a lemonade stand.
