LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to the 6500 block of Avenue R before 2:30 pm Tuesday.
The tower camera at 7403 South University showed the top of a building in flames with thick black smoke. Within minutes of LFR’s arrival, open flames were extinguished, and only light smoke could be seen.
Officials on scene said the abandoned structure has caught fire a few times. The Lubbock Codes Department was called to the scene after the fire was out. At about 3:45 p.m., a demolition crew was seen taking down the building.
