The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees selected new officers Tuesday morning. The new Board President will be Melissa Collier who replaces Dan Pope. Pope is now the mayor-elect for Lubbock after defeating three other candidates in May 7 race for mayor.
The new Board Secretary will be James Arnold and the new Vice President will be Laura Vinson.
Two other new board members, Scot Mayfield and Bill Stubblefield were also sworn in and began their terms of office Tuesday. They also were elected on May 7.
Two LISD candidates, Mario Ybarra and Lala Chavez tied at 747 votes which will require a second election. CLICK HERE for more about the process to break the tie.
