For the third consecutive year, Lubbock Independent School District received national recognition for its music education.
The National Association for Music Merchants Foundation recognized LISD with the Best Communities for Music Education award for its commitment to music education.
According to an LISD press release on Tuesday, they are one of four percent of districts across the nation receiving the award in 2019.
In the press release, Andrew Babcock, Lubbock ISD executive director of fine arts, said LISD is honored to receiving this recognition from NAMM.
“Our fantastic music teachers work tirelessly to ensure our students are afforded a well-rounded educational experience on a daily basis,” Babcock said. “With unwavering support demonstrated by campus administration, our superintendent Dr. Kathy Rollo, our school board, and the entire community, Lubbock ISD is, and will continue to be, a shining beacon for fine arts education.”
According to the press release, research into music education continues to demonstrate educational, cognitive and social skill benefits for children who make music.
